Discussion Question:

This week’s Parsha begins by telling us “See, I am setting before you on this day, blessings and curses.” The word see, written Re’eh, is in singular while the word you, written lifneichem, is in plural.  The Torah is meticulous and consistent yet in this Pasuk the Torah switches from singular to plural. Why does the Torah switch its tenses?  An additional problem with this Pasuk, is that the word see (Re’eh) should not even be here. After all we all received the Torah and knew that we had it. Why use this word at all?
