Our Vision

Berman Hebrew Academy was created to serve the unique educational needs of the Modern Orthodox community of the Greater Washington D.C. area.

From our inception, we have made an unwavering commitment to provide the very best in general and Judaic studies. Over the last 80 years, that founding vision has helped shape thousands of students into active, engaged members and leaders of their communities.

Berman graduates are prepared to lead their lives as religiously committed Jews and citizens of the world who:

  • know how to learn and love to learn Torah;
  • pursue their highest levels of academic, personal, and professional success;
  • are deeply engaged in synagogue and communal life;
  • are deeply committed to the Land and State of Israel, its history, culture, people, and language;
  • exhibit the highest levels of moral conduct, tzedaka, and chesed.

Our Values

Torah as Foundation

We are rooted in Torah, where study shapes halachic practice and commitment and inspires a meaningful relationship with God.

Our Mission

Pursuit of Knowledge

We strive for excellence in every discipline, upholding the sacred pursuit of knowledge and engagement with Chochma throughout God’s world.

Ethical Behavior

We honor every individual as created in God’s image, and we foster a caring and respectful community where Derech Eretz comes first.

Religious Zionism

We cultivate an enduring bond with the people, land, and State of Israel through study, solidarity, and celebration.

Service and Responsibility

Guided by Achrayut, we embrace our moral and civic responsibility to serve others and contribute to our communities.

Our vision has three main strategic priority areas: PeopleProgram, and Structures/Systems.

People

Attract, train, and retain highly qualified educational and administrative staff who are passionate about meeting the unique needs of our students, strengthen our vital partnership with parents, and galvanize community support.

Program

Refine and develop a high quality program (curricular and co-curricular) that promotes the necessary skills and imbues the critical values necessary for our students to succeed in a 21st century world.

Structures/Systems

Refine and develop schedules, spaces, and systems that will best support and facilitate the success of the vision.
