Key Responsibilities

Child Development and Faculty Support:

  • Provide coaching and support to Preschool faculty in implementing developmentally appropriate practices across all domains of learning.
  • Use classroom observations and assessment tools to identify developmental needs; document progress and collaborate with teachers and families on appropriate strategies.
  • Support classroom environments that encourage positive interactions, engagement, and a love of learning.
  • Consult and conference with the Director, teachers, and parents to support children’s overall development.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to teachers, in collaboration with the Director, to strengthen instructional practice and classroom management.
  • Coordinate with related service providers (e.g., occupational therapists, speech therapists, psychologists, pediatricians) to ensure consistent and integrated support for students.
  • Offer support and guidance to families navigating developmental or behavioral concerns, including referrals to appropriate community resources when needed.
  • Curate and manage classroom and program resources (books, manipulatives, sensory materials) that support diverse learning needs and inclusive practices.

Educational Leadership:

  • Collaborate with the Preschool Director to develop and maintain a high-quality educational program that meets the individual needs of every child and supports staff growth.
  • Screen prospective children and participate in admissions decisions, using developmental insight to guide placement recommendations.
  • Assist in administrative tasks as needed, including:
    • Sharing responsibility for the daily operation of the Preschool alongside the Director and Administrative Assistant.
    • Navigating MSDE licensing, credentialing, and EXCELS requirements.
    • Planning and participating in broader Berman school activities.
    • Attending occasional meetings and supporting programs outside of regular school hours.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Social Work, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in an early childhood setting.
  • Strong knowledge of early childhood education, including developmentally appropriate practice and a child-centered, constructivist approach.
  • Experience supporting families, developing behavioral plans, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of Jewish education, culture, values, and Hebrew language preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills. 

Salary range: $50,000-$60,000, commensurate with education and experience.
