Director of Transportation

Berman Hebrew Academy is seeking a Director of Transportation.

Student Transportation

  • Set and manage bus routes, student riders, changes for 6 routes
  • Work with school to manage daily attendance for ridership
  • Work with school administration to manage behavior expectations
  • Coordinate transportation for field trips and sports games
  • Drive morning and afternoon bus routes 

Fleet Management

  • Manage bus fleet, repairs and inspections (7)
  • Quarterback purchasing of new/used buses to replace aging fleet
  • Manage ancillary vehicles for school use (7)
  • Order supplies

Supervisory

  • Prepare payroll, schedule leave, cover gaps in staffing
  • Hire and train bus drivers and bus assistants (approx 10 total)
  • Continuous training and coaching to maintain safety standards and new laws
  • Schedule and keep up with DOT physicals, drug and alcohol screenings

Additional Transportation Responsibilities

  • Perform safety road tests for new staff drivers annually (7-8)
  • Arrange summer camp transportation as requested
  • Pick up and delivery of school items as requested 

Skills needed: Organizational, problem solving, strong communication and interpersonal skills with children, adults and colleagues, mechanical understanding of school buses, must have updated CDL license.
