Middle School Educational Support Teacher (Part Time)

Berman Hebrew Academy, located in Rockville, MD, has an opening for a ten-month, resource teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. The resource teacher will be responsible for working with small groups of students in grades 6-8 to provide additional support in all academic areas. This position also provides push-in resource support to teachers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides research-based interventions, accommodations, and modifications to curriculum for identified students in grades 6th-8th grade.
  • Provides small group instruction as well as co-teaching
  • Provides case management for students including frequent parent and teacher communication and progress reports
  • Collaborates with other members of the academic team in planning and implementing the instructional program
  • Serves on the ESS (Education Support Services) Team along with the Dean of Students and Guidance Counselor
  • Prepares documentation for outside support including MCPS and mental health professionals
  • Attends faculty, curriculum and team meetings (held before the opening of school and throughout the school year), and will attend professional days and workshops
  • Maintains an attractive, organized, and engaged learning environment
  • Attends school events such as Back-to-School Nights, Open Houses, and Eighth Grade Graduation

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education with concentration in Special Education
  • Master’s Degree in Special Education (Preferred)
  • Has a minimum of two years classroom teaching experience
  • Leadership experience preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Superb interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management and classroom management skills
  • Knowledge of 21st century learning, principles theory and practice
