Inclement Weather Policy

If there is a need for a late opening or school cancellation due to a weather emergency, we will notify everyone in the following ways:

  1. An email will be sent to parents and employees
  2. A text message will be sent via Alert Media. To register your cell phone, please email frontdesk@mjbha.org. We will only send a text message if there is a closing or delayed opening.

Please note that we do not follow the decisions of Montgomery County Public Schools for inclement weather closings. Closing information will be posted on our website no later than 6:00 am and will be sent to all email addresses of record.

On “delayed opening” days, we will determine the campus opening time based on weather conditions. In some instances when side streets are not safely passable by our buses, pick up/drop off will occur at consolidated bus locations. If consolidated stops are required, it will be communicated in the email notification and on the website.


In the event that inclement weather requires that we dismiss early, there will be no day care on those days.

In addition, all after school activities, including sports, meetings, etc, are also canceled.

Bus riders will be taken home by bus unless otherwise parents are otherwise notified. Staff members will supervise children waiting for carpools until they are picked up. If your child is not going home, please email dismissal@mjbha.org to relay instructions. We will not leave any children unattended, but ask you to be prompt in picking them up in consideration of the employees who are caring for them.
